Educational Qualification

Applicants need a Class 10 pass certificate from a recognized board with passing marks in Mathematics and English.

  • The prescribed local language must have been studied through Class 10.

GDSs are not regular Central Government employees. Their allowances and benefits differ from regular departmental staff. Duty is generally four to five hours daily, and selected BPM candidates normally arrange suitable Branch Post Office accommodation at their own cost.

Selection Process

There is no written examination and no interview.

  1. The system prepares merit from Class 10 marks.
  2. Candidates are shortlisted against division and post preferences.
  3. Shortlisted candidates report for physical verification of original documents.
  4. The Department checks education, language, age, category, disability and other claims.
  5. Candidates complete medical, antecedent and pre-engagement formalities where required.
  6. Engagement follows only after successful verification and joining requirements.

Exam Pattern

There is no exam, so no syllabus, question-paper pattern, duration or negative marking applies. Selection uses Class 10 merit under the official method.

  3. Check Vacant Posts and Annexures for the selected circle, division, post and language.
  4. Complete registration from 31 August to 19 September 2026 with your own mobile number and email.
  5. Enter Class 10 and personal details exactly as printed on certificates.
  6. From 2 September, sign in and select eligible division and post preferences.
  7. Upload the required photograph and signature.
  8. Pay ₹100 if the portal shows you are not exempt.
  9. Submit by 21 September 2026 at 5:00 PM and save the form and payment status.

Use the 23–24 September correction window for permitted changes instead of creating a duplicate registration. Duplicate registrations can lead to cancellation.
